Terms of Service
Terms for using Local Host as an attendee, host, sponsor or business.
These Terms of Service govern access to and use of Local Host, including wearelocalhost.com, event discovery and booking features, host and sponsor applications, protected portals and related services. By using Local Host, you agree to these Terms.
1. Local Host marketplace role
Local Host is a Redding, California community marketplace that helps people discover local events, hosts, venues, sponsors and businesses. Unless Local Host expressly states otherwise for a specific event, Local Host is not the event organizer, venue owner, employer, insurer or agent of a host, sponsor or attendee. Hosts and businesses remain responsible for the events, goods, services and information they provide.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must provide accurate information and use Local Host only for lawful purposes. A person creating a Host or Sponsor account or entering a binding commercial transaction must be at least 18 years old or otherwise legally able to enter the agreement. Protected portal access is limited to approved users and may not be shared with unauthorized persons.
3. Event listings and host responsibilities
- Provide accurate event details, pricing, dates, times, location, capacity, accessibility information and host contact information.
- Obtain and maintain any insurance, permits, licenses, venue approvals, releases or other permissions required for the event.
- Maintain event insurance appropriate for the event when Local Host requires proof before publication.
- Operate the event safely and lawfully and avoid misleading descriptions, prohibited activities or unsafe conditions.
- Promptly update Local Host when material event information changes.
Local Host may review, decline, pause, unpublish or remove a listing that does not satisfy platform requirements, creates a safety or legal concern, or is materially inaccurate.
4. Attendee responsibilities
Attendees are responsible for reviewing event details, eligibility requirements, venue rules and any host instructions before attending. Participation in an event may involve ordinary or event-specific risks. Follow reasonable safety directions and do not disrupt, harass or endanger hosts, businesses, attendees or the community.
5. Sponsors and businesses
Sponsors and businesses must provide accurate business information, offers, pricing, photos, owner or contact details and external links, and must have the rights necessary to submit that content. Sponsorship payment does not guarantee a particular amount of traffic, sales, attendance or business results unless a written agreement expressly states a guaranteed deliverable.
6. Fees, bookings and payments
Prices, listing fees, sponsorship fees and booking amounts are shown before purchase or submission when applicable. Payment processing may be provided by a third party and may be subject to that provider's terms. Local Host may receive transaction status and related records needed to administer a booking, sponsorship or listing.
7. Event cancellations, changes and refunds
Refund rights depend on the transaction, the role Local Host plays in the sale and applicable law. If Local Host is the ticket seller for a transaction covered by California Business and Professions Code section 22507, the ticket price for a canceled event will be refunded as required by law, and qualifying postponed, rescheduled or replaced events will be refunded upon a valid request within the legally required period. Hosts may establish additional cancellation terms only to the extent they do not reduce rights that cannot lawfully be waived.
8. Automatic renewal offers
If Local Host offers a sponsorship, membership or other service that automatically renews, the renewal terms, price or pricing method, renewal frequency and cancellation method will be presented before purchase. Local Host will obtain required affirmative consent and provide confirmations, reminders, change notices and cancellation methods as required by applicable California automatic-renewal law. A non-recurring purchase does not become recurring unless that is clearly disclosed and accepted.
9. Content and permissions
You retain ownership of content you submit. You grant Local Host a nonexclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, reproduce, resize, format, display and distribute submitted content as reasonably necessary to operate, promote and improve the Local Host listing, event, sponsor profile or service for which the content was provided. You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to provide that content.
9A. AI-generated and illustrative event imagery
Clear disclosure: Local Host may use AI-generated, AI-assisted, digitally edited, staged or otherwise illustrative images and audiovisual content in event thumbnails, photo galleries, promotional posts and other marketplace materials. These visuals may depict imagined attendees, performers, Local Host team members or uniforms, event activities, decor or settings. Such materials are conceptual representations of an event's intended atmosphere and are not necessarily photographs of an actual event, real participants, confirmed venue or exact setup, unless expressly identified as authentic documentation.
What guests can rely on: Do not interpret an illustrative image as a promise that the depicted people, performers, views, seating, food, decorations, facilities or arrangements will be present. The specific date, time, venue or disclosed mystery-location arrangements, ticket inclusions, accessibility information and other material terms stated in the event listing and booking disclosures describe the offered experience. Actual event details and photographs may change. Local Host and the event organizer must still accurately communicate material facts; illustrative images do not excuse false, misleading or deceptive advertising. If a particular feature is important to your booking decision, contact Local Host or the host for clarification before purchasing.
Rights, consent and responsible publication: Hosts, sponsors and contributors must identify substantially AI-generated or altered promotional images when submitting them to Local Host; use only content they have the contractual rights to use commercially; and obtain necessary permissions for recognizable real people's names, voices, images or likenesses, protected brand elements, and third-party creative works. They may not suggest that a real person has endorsed, performed at or attended an event without authorization. Local Host may label, request clarification, edit, reject or remove content that appears unauthorized or materially misleading.
Required disclosures and consumer rights: Where applicable law requires a clear disclosure in or alongside a specific advertisement or AI-generated performance, Local Host and the responsible advertiser must provide that disclosure in the applicable format; publication of these Terms alone is not a substitute. Nothing in this section waives rights or remedies provided by California law, including laws governing false advertising, privacy and commercial likeness use, or other nonwaivable consumer protections. Contact letsconnect@wearelocalhost.com to report an image that you believe misrepresents an event or infringes your rights.
10. Prohibited use
You may not use Local Host to violate law; commit fraud; impersonate another person or business; submit knowingly false information; infringe intellectual property or privacy rights; distribute malware; bypass security or access controls; scrape or overload the service in a harmful manner; harass, threaten or exploit others; or promote events, goods or services that Local Host reasonably determines create unlawful or unacceptable safety risk.
11. Portal and account security
You are responsible for maintaining control of the email account and devices used to access protected Local Host portals. Notify Local Host promptly if you believe account access has been compromised. We may suspend access while investigating a security, fraud or role-authorization issue.
12. Third-party services and links
Local Host may link to or rely on third-party services such as payment processors, maps, email providers, authentication services, venue websites or external booking pages. Local Host does not control third-party services and is not responsible for their independent availability, content, security or terms.
13. Safety and event risk
Local Host can establish publication requirements and provide safety information, but cannot supervise every event or guarantee the conduct of a host, attendee, venue or sponsor. Use reasonable judgment, follow venue and emergency instructions, and contact emergency services when immediate assistance is needed.
14. Disclaimers
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Local Host is provided on an "as available" basis. Local Host does not guarantee that every listing is error-free, that every event will occur exactly as described, that a third party will perform as promised, or that use of the platform will produce a particular attendance, revenue, sponsorship or community result. Nothing in these Terms excludes warranties or rights that applicable law does not allow to be excluded.
15. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Local Host will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from use of the platform or conduct at a third-party event. Any limitation applies only to the extent permitted by applicable law and does not limit liability that cannot lawfully be limited.
16. Indemnity
To the extent permitted by law, a host, sponsor or business agrees to defend and indemnify Local Host from third-party claims, losses or expenses arising from that party's event, goods, services, submitted content, violation of law or breach of these Terms, except to the extent caused by Local Host's own conduct for which indemnification cannot lawfully be required.
17. Suspension and termination
Local Host may restrict, suspend or terminate access or remove content when reasonably necessary for security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, safety, repeated policy violations or material breach of these Terms. Obligations that by their nature should survive termination may continue to apply.
18. California law
These Terms are governed by California law, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except where another law must apply. Subject to any nonwaivable consumer rights, disputes that are properly brought in court will be handled in a court with jurisdiction in Shasta County, California.
19. Changes to these Terms
Local Host may update these Terms as the platform, business model or law changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. When required by law, Local Host will provide additional notice or obtain additional consent before a material change applies.
20. Contact
