How it works
From idea to live booking
Your listing can start gathering interest before every publishing gate is complete. Booking turns on only after the required steps are cleared.
Build the listing
Add your title, description, required photo, price, date, location and host details.
Open interest
Your temporary event card can show on Local Host so people can tap “I’m Interested” while publishing is still pending.
Clear the gates
Local Host checks the $5 listing payment, completed information, venue approval when using a sponsor space, and valid event insurance.
Turn on booking
Once the gates are complete, the same event page switches from interest-only to live booking.

If you do not already have a venue, the listing helper can send a date request directly into a participating sponsor's portal. Sizzle’s Kitchen is the current example. Their acceptance becomes one of the publishing gates for your event.

Before you publish
Know the hosting requirements before the event goes live
Local Host requires valid event insurance before an event becomes bookable. Your venue and activity may have additional requirements.

Every Local Host event must confirm valid event insurance before booking is turned on. If you need help locating coverage, choose that option inside the listing helper.
City facilities have their own rules
For City of Redding park and facility rentals, the City lists circumstances where insurance and a deposit are required, including certain attendance, alcohol, food sale and risk conditions.

If alcohol is sold or served, California Alcoholic Beverage Control rules may apply. Venue approval, the appropriate ABC authorization and liquor liability coverage may also be required depending on the event.
