Host planning guide

Planning your event

Use this as the practical checklist before you publish. A good Local Host listing should tell people what they are joining and make the operational details easy to verify.

California-focused guidance. This page is designed to make Local Host expectations clear. It is general information, not individualized legal, insurance or medical advice. For an emergency, call 911.

Shape the experience

Write the event title, clear overview, what is included, what to expect and who it is for. Add one strong image and useful discovery tags.

Lock the place + date

Use your own verified location or request a Local Host sponsor space. Do not promise a sponsor venue until it accepts the request.

Confirm requirements

Set the age limit, alcohol status, capacity, event manager and insurance route. Check permits or special licensing that applies to the activity.

Publish + communicate

Pay the listing fee, clear the publishing gates and keep the listing current. Respond to attendee questions and send updates if anything changes.

A simple timing rule

For a small event, start early enough to confirm venue, insurance, permits, staff and accessibility before ticket sales become difficult to unwind. More complex or regulated events need more lead time.
