Safety concerns at an event

Use this guide when you notice a risk before you arrive or while you are at an event. Hosts and venues remain responsible for operating their event and property safely.

Before you go

  • Read the age limit, venue, time, included items and host information.
  • Ask the host a question through the booking flow if something is unclear.
  • Check accessibility details if you need an accommodation.
  • For alcohol-related events, expect the host and venue to follow applicable California ABC rules.

At the event

  • Follow lawful venue capacity, fire, access and safety instructions.
  • Do not provide alcohol to minors. Hosts should verify the licensing and authorization their event requires.
  • Report harassment, discrimination, unsafe conditions or material misrepresentation.
  • Leave if you believe staying places you at unreasonable risk.
